Now that the Florida primary is in behind us Newt Gingrich seems to be driving a car without a rear view mirror or breaks. Mitt Romney will be getting secret service and Newt won’t. Take the hint Newt. Open the driver side door and tuck and roll into the highway ditch before more mudslinging colleagues and exs from the past make this an experience you need the jaws of life to get out of. Mittens, on the other hand, pun intended, needs a code name now. How about “Trebek” for looking like a 60s game show host. Or “The Fortunate Governor’s Son” to echo John Fogerty’s legendary CCR lyrics. TJ and The Tux throw a few ideas around.

NEWT BETTER NOT NEED VIRGINIA

Doh! Newt Gingrich forgot to apply in time for the March 6th Virginia primaries. That’s alright Newt, we understand. We’ve been there. TJ and the Tux in their lifetime, have forgotten to apply for class at college, forgotten to renew their visas, vehicle registrations, and alot more. Overlooking deadlines for state primaries during Presidential campaigns though? No. Can’t say we’ve done that.

 

However, who are WE to say this type of behavior is uncalled for, or unacceptable. It’s human. That’s what it is.  Better not need those 50 delegate votes when it’s all said and done though Mr Speaker. It would be a shame to lose the nomination simply because you forgot to sign up for something, like a drunk frat kid. 

Campaign History: 1956 Stevenson And Kefauver Go Negative on Eisenhower

Is this the first negative TV ad in U.S political history? Some argue that it is. In it, Adlai Stevenson, who ran for President in 1952, and 1956 (losing to Ike twice) and his running mate, the chain smoking Tennessee native Estes Kefauver (who was a House and Senate member AND ran in ’52 and 56, losing the nomination to Stevenson both times) question whether Ike the incumbent has upheld his words of bringing back “integrity and thrift” to the White House.
